Dr. Evans joined the Neurosciences faculty in July 2005. He received a BS in chemistry, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern California, and his MD from UCSD. After a year of Internal Medicine training at Loma Linda Medical Center, he returned to UCSD for his residency in neurology.

He is a general clinical neurologist. As a clinician in practice who performs neurophysiologic testing, he enjoys seeing challenging patients with a broad variety of neurologic complaints.

Academically, he is interested in teaching medical students and resident physicians, focusing on the application of evidence-based medicine and humanism in clinical neurology. Dr. Evans is the Department’s Education Committee Chair, the director of the Department's third and fourth year medical student clinical courses, and co-director of School of Medicine’s Mind, Brain, and Behavior blocks for first and second year students. His efforts in teaching have been recognized with numerous awards.

Away from the University, Dr. Evans is committed to growth in our community. He serves on the Advisory Board of LifeSharing, the UNOS certified Organ Procurement Organization serving San Diego and Imperial counties, and spent five years serving on the board of directors and as the treasurer of the San Diego Prevention Coalition, a non-profit organization focused on drug and alcohol education and prevention. The Prevention Coalition was named a "Hero of San Diego" for its work with methamphetamine abuse education. Dr. Evans speaks frequently at community forums on a wide variety of neurologic topics.
