Request ADRC Resources

Available Resources

As a NIA-funded Alzheimer's Disease Center, it is our mission to support researchers by providing referrals, samples, data, expertise, and other infrastructure to support research projects investigating topics under the ADRD umbrella.

We are committed to supplying ADRD researchers with available resources such as:

  • De-identified data
  • Participant referrals
  • Tissue samples from our brain bank
  • Biofluids such as CSF, blood, and plasma
  • Scientific or statistical consultation
  • iPSC cells

Investigators utilizing SMADRC resources are responsible for ensuring the SMADRC is properly acknowledged using the appropriate grant numbers. For example:  We thank the study participants and staff of the UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Center. This work was supported by NIA grant P30 AG062429.  Details outlined below in 'Acknowledging the Center'.

Acknowledging the Center

Acknowledging the Center

If you receive research support through utilization of any Core resources from the UCSD SMADRC, or if you receive SMADRC-supported grant funding, you are responsible for acknowledging the UCSD SMADRC in publications, posters and presentations per the guidelines below.

Publications
You must cite the UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center Grant: NIA grant P30 AG062429 if you:
  • Receive funding from the SMADRC for research you are publishing
  • Use SMADRC Resources to support any aspect of your research study, including but not limited to the following examples: scientific expertise for the purposes of grant submission, data analysis or conduction of a clinical trial; recruitment of study participants from the ADRC Clinical Core or Recruitment Registry; utilization of ADRC biospecimens

All investigators funded by the NIH must submit publications for inclusion in Pub Med Central and obtain a PubMed CID. Visit NIH Public Access website to learn more about the submission process and for a list of journals that are automatically submitted to PubMed Central.

BuckySubmit provides researchers with a time-saving, one-step service that submits their soon-to-be-published manuscripts for them.

Posters and Presentations

If you receive research support through utilization of any Core resources from the UCSD SMADRC, or you receive UCSD SMADRC-supported grant funding, you must acknowledge the UCSD SMADRC when creating a poster or presentation as follows:

UCSD Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center NIA grant P30 AG062429

Make a Request

All requests will be considered by core leaders and approved by a review committee. Once the survey linked below is filled out, you will be contacted by the appropriate core leader to provide additional instructions and relevant request forms.

Cohort Studies and Projects

Clinical Core Longitudinal Study Cohort

Design: Longitudinal, observational, clinical-pathologic cohort study of cognitive aging and dementia

Participants: Older adults from Southern California

  • Includes those with and without dementia
  • Agreeing to annual clinical evaluation
  • Agreeing optionally to organ donation (spinal cord, eye, brain and skin donation)
  • Biomarkers from cerebral spinal fluid, blood and saliva
  • Neuroimaging

Latino Core

Design: Longitudinal, observational cohort study of cognitive decline and identifying risk factors of AD in older Latinos

Participants: Older adults who self-identify as Latino/Hispanic

  • Agreeing to annual clinical evaluation and blood draw
  • Measures of Spanish and English bilingualism
  • Neuropsychological tests conducted in English or Spanish

Research Ready Cohort

Design: Our Research Ready Cohort is a registry of potential study participants who have expressed interest in participating in research on memory and aging who were not enrolled in the Longitudinal Cohort. Participants provide basic demographic and clinical information and indicate their willingness/ability to participate in various research procedures (e.g., clinical trials, MRI, PET, LP, skin biopsy, autopsy, etc.). Data and participant referrals from this resource are available.
