Department of Neurosciences Proposal Submission Timeline

  • PI: submit request for pre-award 4-6 weeks prior to the due date.  Proposal requests submitted within 4 weeks prior to the sponsor due date (3 weeks prior to the submitting institution’s deadline) require Department Chair approval.
    • Exceptions:
      • If PI Exception is required, submit pre-award request by 6 weeks prior to the due date.
      • If proposal includes subawards, allow 3 weeks for subaward site to route and submit all appropriate documents at their institution prior to our draft deadline submission date.
  • PI & Pre-Award Team: Develop the budget, budget justification, complete the KR record, receive PI Certification, etc. during 2-4 weeks prior to the due date.
  • PI: Confirm final budget, final budget justification, and send draft documents to Pre-Award Team by 2 weeks prior to the due date.
  • Pre-Award: Submit the draft proposal (final budget, final budget justification, draft science in application) to the Sponsored Projects Office by 7 business days prior to the due date. - (allows for Pre-Award review of documents, completion of application forms, upload of draft documents)
  • PI: Send final proposal documents to Pre-Award Team by 2 business days prior to the due date.
  • Pre-Award: Route final proposal application and KR record to the Sponsored Projects Office by 1 business day prior to the due date.

 We are considering the Sponsored Projects Office Proposal Submission Timeline, appropriate time to review proposal application and documents, as well as provide as much time for our faculty to work on the proposal application components.  If the above timeline is not met, we cannot guarantee that the proposal will be submitted to the sponsor.
