Study Name |
AGMP-Alzheimer's Gut Microbiome Project |
Study Summary |
Funded by the National Institute of Aging (NIA) to investigate the role of the gut microbiome and metabolome in Alzheimer's Disease. This study makes use of non-invasive sampling in the comfort of your own home. All procedures are experimental. Fecal and blood samples will be collected from study participants at two different time points. This is accomplished using kits designed by the American Gut Project and now modified for higher biomass collection, as needed for this biobanking effort. The kits consist of one or two 15mL collection tubes filled with ethanol and a stool collection paper. The kit will also include the option of an at-home blood collection. This device is a contained cartridge that comes with disposable lancet, and instructions for safe use and a storage envelope. To collect a sample, participants will follow simple steps included in easy-to-follow instructions (with explanatory graphics) specially designed for this project. |
