COVID-19 Status and Announcements

COVID-19 has had a profound impact on individuals, families, caregivers, and research operations. We are committed to providing you with updated information and relevant resources. We have been working hard to adapt policies, procedures, operations, and offerings to remote and virtual formats whenever possible. Please continue to check the links below to stay informed.

Events and Support Groups Are Virtual

Considering the current COVID-19 guidelines regarding social distancing, we are continuing to suspend most in-person visits for the following activities until further notice:

  • Observational research study visits
  • Quality of Life Programs, including support groups and activity programs
  • Educational workshops and classes

Due to popular demand, our social workers continue to offer support groups using Zoom. We are participating in virtual educational outreach efforts, such as town hall discussion panels hosted by community partner organizations, and developing our own virtual series of presentations for individuals interested in learning about various aspects of ADRD and research currently underway.

Our Events

New List of Resources Available

Our staff is telecommuting during this time, and we are hoping to use this opportunity to stay connected with our participants to check-in and provide resources and referrals as needed. Our social work team has worked with our community partners to developresources to assist seniors during this unprecedented time.

Our Resources

Modifications to Data Collection

As the observational longitudinal study requires an annual assessment, we have made modifications to gather as much data by phone as possible for individuals whose annual visits will be impacted by the aforementioned timeframe. We will contact you to schedule a telephone appointment with one of our staff members.

Changes to Clinical Trial Operations

Clinical drug trial operations at the ADRC have been modified on a trial-by-trial basis. The UCSD team is in close communication with the study sponsors to determine the procedures that should continue or the study visits that can be modified or placed on hold.

For all studies, essential safety visits are continuing to be scheduled on-site, or through direct coordination between the clinical research coordinator and the study participant. Some studies have allowed for telephone assessments and communication, while other studies are modifying procedures to account for delays. We are grateful to all our research participants and are following UCSD guidelines to ensure safety measures are in place for study visits. The clinical trials team continues to add new studies to our portfolio regularly and encourages individuals who are interested in participating to reach out to our team at the ADRC.
