Benefits
- Step 3 and Licensing fees reimbursed
- $50,000 life insurance plan for residents with $100,000 double indemnity clause
- Health, dental, vision insurance for resident and dependents are at no cost
- Disability and malpractice insurance provided by UC San Diego at no cost
- Four (4) weeks of paid vacation each year
- Four (4) weeks of paid parental bonding leave for each qualifying event
- White lab coats and white-coat laundry services
- Access to the library resources of UC San Diego and the VA Medical Center onsite and via internet from offsite
- All residents receive an annual $10,000 housing stipend that is included in the salary. There is also an annual $750 educational stipend that you can use at your discretion for professional association memberships, abstract submissions, poster printing, and the like.
- Postgraduate Training License and USMLE Step 3 fees are reimbursed once your PTL is issued.
- Meal allowance of $200 is deposited into your account once a month.
How much vacation do residents get?
- All interns and residents get four weeks of vacation each year, in the form of one or two 2-week blocks per year.
How is parking?
- All interns and residents are able to purchase a UC San Diego "B" parking pass for $90/month or a "A" parking pass for $103/month. This allows for easy parking at all three hospital sites.
