The Shiley Gift:  Bringing Discovery and Hope to the ADRC

In November 2004, UC San Diego announced a generous donation from Donald and Darlene Shiley to support the UCSD Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC). In recognition of their gift, and in honor of Darlene's mother Dee Marcos, UCSD renamed the ADRC the Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.

Darlene Shiley has been awarded the Lifetime Legacy Award for being a visionary leader whose philanthropy has transformed lives here in San Diego and across the country. Shiley’s wide-ranging philanthropic interests are the result of a fierce passion for helping others — a passion she shared with her late husband, Donald.
