SMADRC Support Group Facilitators: from left to right:  Genell Greenberg, Jayne Slade & Joyce Camiel

Genell Greenberg has facilitated our Lewy Body Support Group, bringing both expertise and deep compassion shaped by her own caregiving experience with her husband. Her understanding and empathy provide comfort and guidance to families facing this difficult journey.

Jayne Slade  first joined our caregiver support group as a participant and, after the loss of her husband, chose to give back. For more than 15 years she has co-facilitated our care partner support group, offering wisdom, strength, and encouragement to others.  Jayne received the Alzheimer's Association Hope Award and you can learn more about her story here.

Joyce Camiel is currently a 20+ year volunteer as a support group facilitator and quality of life program liaison and advisor.  Joyce began attending the group with her husband when he was diagnosed in 2000 with Alzheirmers disease at SMADRC.  As a trained professional she easily transitioned from attendee to one of the facilitators. Joyce spent 14 years as a caregiver along the way which helped her learn even more world about the disease.  She has a Masters degree and is a licensed MarriageFamily Therapist .  Joyce is grateful for all the learning and help she got when navigating the ALZ journey from UCSD ADRC and is honored to help others who are just beginning.

Phyllis Munoz serves as a vital ambassador in the community, dedicating her time to outreach and education within Spanish-speaking communities. Through her work, she raises awareness about Alzheimer’s research and helps families better understand the role they can play in advancing it.

Mary Pat Warner – Even while caring for her own husband during the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease, and after his recent passing, MP stepped forward to support others. She now helps facilitate a support group for families navigating the later stages of this devastating illness.
